Cheniere Energy has signed a 30-year contract with QatarEnergy for the supply of liquefied natural gas (LNG). These contracts involve the supply of a total of 4 million tons of LNG per year from Cheniere's facilities on the Gulf Coast of the United States and represent long-term energy planning in the region.
Details of the LNG Supply Contracts
Two subsidiaries of Cheniere, namely Sabine Pass Liquefaction and Corpus Christi Liquefaction, have each signed LNG sales and purchase agreements with QatarEnergy. These contracts are dedicated to supplying 2 million tons of LNG from each of these facilities on a FOB (Free on Board) basis. The purchase price will be linked to the Henry Hub price plus a fixed fee.

Delivery of LNG under these contracts will begin in the early 2030s and continue until the end of 2054. Additionally, 1 million tons from the Sabine Pass contract is contingent upon final investment approval for the first phase of the Sabine Pass expansion project.
Impact of This Agreement on the Energy Market
These agreements, signed by Saad Sherida Al-Kaabi, Qatar's Minister of Energy and Chairman and CEO of QatarEnergy, and Jack Fusco, President, CEO, and Chairman of Cheniere Energy, reflect QatarEnergy's confidence in the long-term role of LNG in the global energy mix. Al-Kaabi stated that these contracts represent an important step in Qatar's LNG strategy and will help expand and diversify the country's global LNG portfolio.
Cheniere is also developing the Sabine Pass expansion project, which will increase its production capacity to around 20 million tons of LNG per year. This project, with expectations of increasing production capacity and existing facilities to over 50 million tons per year, could strengthen Cheniere's position as one of the leaders in the LNG industry in the United States.
Cheniere Energy has also signed a contract with Bechtel Energy for the first phase of the Sabine Pass expansion project. This project is expected to be carried out in a phased approach, with the first phase including a production unit and a vapor recovery unit.
