The CEO of the National Iranian Gas Company announced a gas imbalance of 400 million cubic meters in the country during peak consumption. This situation has significantly increased compared to previous years when the imbalance was estimated at around 250 to 300 million cubic meters. Tavakoli attributed this increase to the specific conditions of this year, which makes the need for consumption management more essential.
Gas Consumption Management Strategies
The CEO of the National Iranian Gas Company continued to mention consumption management strategies, stating: "There are simple strategies for managing consumption that can effectively reduce gas usage. These strategies include using thick curtains, sealing windows, and preventing cold air from entering the building." He also emphasized the importance of setting the home temperature between 18 to 21 degrees Celsius.

Tavakoli also announced the "20" campaign, which aims to encourage people to set their home temperature to 20 degrees. He emphasized that for each degree reduction in the ambient temperature, nearly 25 million cubic meters of gas consumption can be saved, an amount equivalent to the production of one phase of South Pars, which can assist the country's gas network.
Effective Measures in Consumption Management
The CEO of the National Iranian Gas Company discussed other effective measures in gas consumption management, stating: "Closing air conditioning vents in winter, setting the temperature of boilers and heating systems between 55 to 60 degrees Celsius, and adhering to the infrastructural requirements of buildings, including Section 19 of the National Building Regulations, are also other measures that can be effective."
He pointed out the development of the gas distribution network in the country, saying: "We have 11.5 times the length of gas transmission and distribution lines compared to the surface of the Earth." Tavakoli emphasized the importance of the country's energy basket and added: "In this basket, it doesn't matter whether the energy carrier is liquid fuel, gas, or electricity; the more important issue is whether the country's infrastructure and systems are up to standard in terms of efficiency."
The CEO of the National Iranian Gas Company also discussed the impacts of increased gas consumption in the residential sector on other sectors, stating: "If a residential consumer increases their gas consumption, this gas is naturally consumed in this sector, and we are forced to use liquid fuel in power plants and other production sectors."
Challenges of Using Alternative Fuels
He further clarified: "Using alternative fuels in power plants is not an issue, but unfortunately, some of our power plants are located within cities, and using alternative fuels in these plants can lead to the emission of pollutants and environmental pollution. Even if the amount of this pollution is limited, its effects in urban environments are significant."
