Bulwark Dynamics, an American defense technology startup, is collaborating with a Japanese shipbuilder to develop an autonomous corvette capable of transporting cargo to combat zones without the need for military personnel. This corvette is considered a solution to the logistical challenges faced by the United States Navy.
Logistical Challenges in Military Operations
The United States Navy faces challenges in logistics distribution, especially in situations where forces must operate in the coastal regions of the Western Pacific. Bulwark Dynamics believes that these challenges can be mitigated by using autonomous corvettes that operate independently. These corvettes transport cargo to difficult locations without port infrastructure instead of carrying personnel.

Performance of Autonomous Corvettes
Bulwark's autonomous corvettes are designed to automatically go to shore, unload cargo, and return to sea without human intervention. Nhat Lieu, the founder and CEO of Bulwark Dynamics, stated: "Logistical needs must be met in a sustainable manner. These corvettes deliver cargo through small, low-cost vessels, reducing risk to human forces, so that losing one corvette only means a bad day rather than the end of supply."
This innovation allows Bulwark to position itself within a new category of suppliers for the United States Navy, situated between unmanned patrol corvettes and medium surface ships.
Initial Tests in Ukraine
Bulwark's autonomous corvettes were tested for the first time in military operations in Ukraine. In July, during an operation targeting Russian positions in the Kinburn Peninsula, the regional defense forces of Ukraine configured a remote-controlled corvette with the capability to load and unload. Videos of the unloading process and subsequent operations were released, demonstrating the effectiveness of these corvettes in combat conditions.
Last week, Ukrainian forces conducted an unmanned landing operation in the Kinburn Peninsula, marking the first instance of this type. The corvette automatically deployed a ground vehicle to attack Russian positions on the shores.
