Asghar Jahangir, the head of the General Inspection Organization, emphasized the necessity of redesigning energy consumption in cultural centers on the sidelines of a meeting to review the imbalance in water and gas. He mentioned that given the large volume of these centers, it is essential to reform consumption patterns and reconsider assistance to centers that consume energy for free.

Unregulated Energy Consumption and Conservation Patterns

Jahangir pointed out that the free provision of water and electricity to some cultural centers has led to unregulated consumption, adding that this undermines conservation patterns. He stressed that raising awareness about the consumption of water, electricity, and gas to reduce energy imbalance is of great importance, and reforming methods and patterns is one way to achieve this goal.

The Necessity of Optimal Management of Water and Energy Resources

The head of the General Inspection Organization also emphasized designing methods for using wastewater to optimize operations, noting that in some countries, wastewater is viewed as crude oil. He referred to the commendable conservation efforts of the people of Mashhad and Khorasan Province in reducing energy consumption, stating that savings cannot solely be achieved by consumers and that there is a need to reform the situation in other areas as well.

Jahangir also mentioned the necessity of reforming processes and infrastructure, stating that water leaks due to aging pipes require more supervision. Alongside this, the use of treated wastewater instead of drinking water should be prioritized.

He emphasized managing and conserving water, electricity, and gas consumption through redesigning government infrastructure, stating that gas infrastructure also needs redesigning and that we should not allow facilities to deteriorate, as this could lead to security issues.

Jahangir further stated that special credits should be allocated for Khorasan Razavi Province and Mashhad, as millions of pilgrims visit Mashhad annually, leading to increased energy consumption.

He also referred to the unauthorized use of energy, including illegal wells, unauthorized miners for cryptocurrency production, and illegal water and electricity connections, stating that current laws are not deterrent enough and fines do not provide the necessary deterrence. Therefore, agencies have been asked to submit necessary proposals.

Jahangir also emphasized that in future plans, land use planning should be considered to prevent the allocation of credits and budgets to projects that do not yield desirable results later. He announced that the Inspection Organization will carry out the necessary oversight in this regard and will utilize existing capacities to expedite the operation of water, electricity, and gas projects in Mashhad.
