Ali Kord, the representative of the people of Khash, Nasratabad, Mirjaveh, and Kourin in the Islamic Consultative Assembly, referred to the challenges of supplying fuel and flour for the people of Sistan and Baluchestan in his speech during today's open session of the Assembly. He criticized the drip-feed allocation of fuel to the people of this province, emphasizing that this decision, made under the pretext of fuel smuggling, has not been properly analyzed.
Challenges of Fuel and Flour Supply
Kord stated that securing fuel for the people of Sistan and Baluchestan has become a difficult issue, saying: "Is the drip-feed allocation of fuel to the people of this province under the pretext of fuel smuggling a well-considered decision?" He also mentioned the reduction of flour quotas, stating: "How is the reduction of flour quotas, which is the staple food of the residents of rural and nomadic areas of the country, especially in Sistan and Baluchestan, justified?"

This member of the Assembly pointed to the weaknesses in communication and transportation infrastructure in this province, stating that the lack of infrastructure such as highways and urban rail has created conditions that have turned this region into an attractive market for fuel smugglers. He expressed: "The oppressed people of this region should not pay the price for the delays in development and the negligence of officials."
Distinguishing Between Combating Smuggling and Meeting Needs
Ali Kord emphasized that the allocated fuel quota does not meet the needs of the people, saying: "People are forced to procure their needs from the free market and sometimes the black market." He also reminded that there should be a distinction between combating fuel smuggling and meeting the essential needs of border residents, and policies that affect the daily lives of people should be avoided.
He further called on the President to issue necessary orders for the adequate supply of kerosene and liquefied gas in border areas and northern Sistan and Baluchestan. Kord stressed: "The implementation of gas supply projects should not be an excuse for depriving people of fuel, especially since many rural areas and even parts of urban areas still lack this infrastructure."
This member of the Assembly concluded by criticizing the slow allocation of funds for development projects and the state of the market and rising prices of consumer goods, calling for serious government attention to the livelihoods of the people. He reminded that rising prices and inflation have made life difficult for people, and it is expected that the government will show greater sensitivity to these issues.
