Abdolreza Dadboud, the Deputy Coordinator of Urban Affairs of Mazandaran Province, announced an urgent need for 250 million liters of alternative fuel during a meeting, referring to the current conditions of the province's industrial units. He raised concerns about electricity and gas restrictions and noted that these limitations could seriously harm knowledge-based and export-oriented production units.
Necessity of Providing Alternative Fuel
Dadboud further stated that over the past two to three years, there has been an emphasis on the readiness of industrial units to face electricity and gas restrictions, and they have been asked to equip themselves with generators and secure secondary fuel. He reported the allocation of 90 million liters of fuel last year to compensate for electricity limitations and stated that with the increase in the number of industrial units and the issuance of over 300 new operating licenses, this year's fuel quota has significantly decreased.

Concerns About Gas Restrictions in the Cold Season
The Deputy Governor of Mazandaran referred to concerns about gas restrictions in the cold months of the year and said: "Estimates indicate that the industrial sector of Mazandaran needs more than 250 million liters of alternative fuel." He emphasized that this issue must be resolved before the onset of the cold season. Dadboud also clarified that it cannot be expected for industrial units to continue their operations without forecasting and securing alternative fuel.
Dadboud stated that the industrial sector's share of gas consumption in the province is about four to five percent, saying: "If gas restrictions are imposed on industries, a clear mechanism for providing alternative fuel must be established so that production units do not face operational stoppages." He also warned about transferring the energy consumption burden from gas to electricity and said it should be examined whether the electricity network and power plants in the province and country have the capacity to respond to this level of increased consumption.
He emphasized the necessity of determining the energy status of industries before the cold season, noting: "From November, the province's gas needs will increase, and before that, the amount of incoming gas, consumption needs, and potential shortages must be precisely identified." This Deputy Governor also reported on efforts to utilize existing capacities in the gas import sector and said: "Discussions have been held, and coordination with northern provinces is underway to better manage the energy imbalance using regional capacities."
Dadboud concluded by stating: "Energy management must be conducted before a crisis occurs, and if restrictions on industrial consumption are to be imposed, the level of restriction, the amount of alternative fuel, and how to secure and distribute it must be determined months in advance." His main goal is to maintain the production cycle and protect employment, which requires cooperation and coordination from all responsible energy agencies.
