Abbas Basafa, the director of the smart fuel system, announced the start of the fueling with bank card plan in Tehran during a program on Radio Economy. This plan aims to increase the share of personal card usage in the fueling process and reduce the challenges related to fuel cards.

Details of the Fueling with Bank Card Plan

Basafa explained that in previous years, the use of personal fuel cards faced challenges due to issues such as forgetting the card and people being delayed at stations. Therefore, the "identification" of the fueling process and the use of bank cards as a complementary method has been implemented. This plan will be executed nationwide by the end of October if suitable conditions are met.

How to Fuel and Its Limit

The director of the smart fuel system explained how to fuel with a bank card, stating that individuals can use a valid bank card at the stations to complete the fueling process. After swiping the card, a voucher containing a four-digit code is received, which is used for fueling. Additionally, the fueling limit per session in Tehran is set at 25 liters.

Basafa also mentioned the security of the infrastructure of this plan, stating that this method is designed as an alternative fueling method so that the fueling process for people does not stop in case of technical or cyber issues. He reminded that personal fuel cards remain valid, and the relevant quotas will continue to be charged as before.

Furthermore, Basafa discussed the use of license plate recognition cameras for fuel management, stating that this issue has been examined and various plans have been evaluated in this regard, but it faces challenges such as plate quality and high equipment costs. Additionally, in the oil and gas sector, there are online systems that charge fleet quotas based on the information and performance sent by the Road Maintenance and Transportation Organization and municipalities.

The director of the smart fuel system emphasized that the main goal of using modern technologies in the smart fuel system is to reduce smuggling and prevent off-network distribution. He added that efforts are being made in the diesel sector to carry out more effective actions in this area in collaboration with the relevant authorities.
