Hamid Bord today (Sunday, October 25) after arriving in Moscow to participate in the eighth summit and the twenty-eighth ministerial meeting of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) stated the importance of this meeting: Iran is one of the founders of this forum, and in this meeting, in addition to reviewing production plans, we will negotiate with member countries about expanding energy cooperation, especially in the gas sector.

Review of International Developments and Cooperation

Bord also referred to the review of the resolutions and common issues of GECF at the summit and said: The Islamic Republic of Iran will present its positions regarding international developments and the crimes of the United States related to the war and the damages inflicted on the country's energy infrastructure at this meeting. Additionally, we seek to strengthen cooperation and coordination with countries active in the gas sector.

Progress in Gas Exchange Agreement

The head of the Ministry of Oil regarding the bilateral cooperation between Iran and Russia said: In the previous meeting of the presidents of Iran and Russia in Turkmenistan, general agreements for gas exchange were made. Currently, the technical stages of implementing this agreement are being pursued, and the agreement is almost finalized. We hope that with the completion of the pipeline program that the Russian side is pursuing through Azerbaijan, the possibility of gas exchange between the two countries will be provided in the near future.

Bord also referred to the participation of Russian companies in the development of Iran's oil fields and said: The cooperation between the two countries in the oil sector continues, and four major oil fields in Iran are being developed with Russian participation. Contracts in this sector have made suitable progress, and necessary follow-ups to advance them with the Russian side will continue.

On the sidelines of this meeting, topics related to joint oil and gas projects will also be discussed with Russian counterparts, and we plan to further develop economic cooperation between the two countries, especially in the oil and gas sector.

The eighth summit will be held on Tuesday (October 27) and the twenty-eighth ministerial meeting of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum will take place on Monday (October 26). This forum has 12 main members, and the member countries together hold about 70% of the world's proven natural gas reserves.
