XOCEAN, a provider of unmanned surface vehicle (USV) operations and ocean data based in Ireland, has recently initiated a strategic partnership with two Japanese companies. This collaboration aims to expand the use of unmanned vessels in marine surveys along the coasts of Japan and to accelerate digitalization and decarbonization.
Signing of the Memorandum of Understanding
This collaboration includes the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) between XOCEAN and the companies Kiso-jiban Consultants and Seisgadget. The main goal of this alliance is to enhance and expand the use of USVs in the Japanese marine survey market. The three companies aim to respond more quickly and flexibly to large marine projects by combining their complementary capabilities in geotechnical consulting, marine geophysical surveys, robotics, automated systems, and large-scale USV operations.
Operations in Japan
Two unmanned vessels, XO-450 from XOCEAN, have already been deployed in Japan and have commenced full operations. These vessels are designed to provide high-quality ocean data with minimal environmental impact. According to Kiso-jiban Consultants, this collaboration could enhance data quality and reduce negative environmental impacts.
The executives of the three companies emphasized that this strategic partnership will not only benefit the companies but could also help improve processes and reduce resource consumption in marine projects. Given the increasing demand for high-quality data in marine projects and the necessity to address environmental issues, this alliance could serve as a model for other countries and companies.
