The National Iranian Gas Company has set three main strategies for managing energy supply during the winter season in the northern provinces of the country. Saeed Tavakoli, the CEO of this company, pointed out the challenges of gas supply in cold seasons during a meeting of the Fuel Consumption Optimization Working Group in Golestan province, emphasizing that Golestan, Mazandaran, and North Khorasan provinces are facing greater energy imbalance this year compared to previous years.

Challenges of Gas Supply in Winter 1404

Tavakoli noted the limitations that exist in cold seasons, stating that this year's conditions are much more sensitive due to the damages caused by the imposed war and the reduction in gas production capacity. He mentioned that following the enemy's attack on March 18, 230 million cubic meters of the country's gas production capacity has been lost. Nevertheless, the actions taken to produce early have returned about 100 million cubic meters of sweet gas and nearly 75,000 barrels of gas condensate to the production cycle.

Strategies of the National Iranian Gas Company

The CEO of the National Iranian Gas Company referred to three main strategies, which include debris removal and reconstruction, consumption management and optimization, and active energy diplomacy. The reconstruction of two refineries has been entrusted to the National Iranian Gas Company, and the process of restoring capacities has been progressing well. Tavakoli expressed hope that a larger portion of these capacities would return to the production cycle before the onset of the cold season.

Alongside reconstruction efforts, Tavakoli emphasized the importance of managing consumption intensity and added that the threat of energy imbalance should be turned into a historic opportunity for reforming consumption patterns and enhancing efficiency. To this end, 109 contracts have been signed with energy service companies to convert saved gas into savings certificates using technological methods.

The CEO of the National Iranian Gas Company also referred to the reform of the tariff structure, stating that after 14 years, the tariff structure has been revised from 12 tiers to 4 tiers with a justice-oriented approach. These changes will lead to a 5.8 percent saving in gas consumption in the second half of 1404. Tavakoli also mentioned the installation of heat boxes at CGS stations and the containment of leaks from gas meters, stating that South Khorasan has been introduced as one of the first provinces with zero network leaks.

The CEO of the National Iranian Gas Company appreciated the efforts of 12,000 rescuers and gas workers across the country, adding that these forces are at the forefront of service delivery and maintaining the stability of the gas flow. He also announced the implementation of the "Gas Partner" project with the participation of 310,000 students and 41,000 teachers and stated that by the end of October, the nationwide campaign "Mehrbano" will also begin.

Tavakoli emphasized the importance of maintaining the stability of the gas flow and urged residential and industrial consumers to cooperate with the National Iranian Gas Company by adhering to the consumption pattern to navigate this winter's conditions.
