Thordon Bearings has recently opened a new manufacturing facility at 3180 Mainway, Burlington. This move is part of the company's strategy to respond to significant growth across all business sectors and increased demand for its sustainable bearings and seals.

Increased Production Capacity and Improved Efficiency

The third Thordon factory provides additional space for the production of non-bearing complementary equipment, increases production output, reduces lead times, and develops future products. This new facility will primarily focus on the production of TG100 mechanical seals with water lubrication and water quality packs for marine markets and hydroelectric plants. Additionally, this facility will include Thordon's new product development team and operations of its sister company, Marsh Brothers Aviation.

Workforce Growth and Development Strategies

Anna Galoni, President and CEO of Thordon Bearings, stated, "Alongside our commitments to innovation and quality, we continue to invest in growth. Creating additional manufacturing space has allowed Thordon and MBA to optimize layouts for assembly, machining, and administrative areas, enhancing efficiency and production. This expanded facility strengthens our ability to meet the expected delivery times of distributors and customers and allows us to respond to growing demand."

This new facility primarily provides additional space for operations and frees up existing capacity at 3225 Mainway for production and workforce growth. This new capacity will support business demand and significant personnel growth at Thordon. The company's workforce has grown by 32 percent since the end of 2023, and new positions have been created in management, sales, and production at both the workplace and the new factory. Thordon expects to continue growing its workforce by attracting new talent.

The third factory was inaugurated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by representatives from the Government of Canada and the Province of Ontario, including Karina Gould and Natalie Pierre, and Terry Caddo, President and CEO of the Burlington Chamber of Commerce. Anna Galoni added, "Burlington continues to provide us with a skilled workforce, strong government support, and excellent quality of life while serving as a central hub for our global customers. The proximity of the third factory to our main facilities also enhances collaboration between teams and maintains the close-knit family environment that our employees value."
