Ali Khavasfar, the Engineering and Construction Manager of Caspian Oil Company, announced the start of new programs for the repair of the Amir Kabir semi-submersible platform and the examination of structures in the Caspian Sea with the aim of identifying oil and gas reserves. These programs are being pursued in line with the identification and development of oil and gas fields in the northern part of the country.

New Drilling Programs in the Caspian Sea

Khavasfar, during a visit to the Amir Kabir drilling platform in the Caspian Sea, stated: "This platform, weighing about 15,000 tons, has the capability to drill in deep waters up to 1,000 meters and drill up to a length of 6,000 meters." The design and construction of this semi-submersible platform began in the 2000s and was carried out in collaboration with various companies. Previously, this platform had drilled two exploratory wells, but its activities had been halted, and now major repairs are on the agenda.

Khavasfar emphasized that the results of previous drilling activities have helped prove the existence of hydrocarbon reserves in the Caspian Sea. He stated that after completing repairs and obtaining the necessary certifications, the groundwork for the platform's return to operations and the commencement of drilling new exploratory wells will be established.

Research for Identifying Economic Reserves

The Engineering and Construction Manager of Caspian Oil Company also announced the implementation of a project in the Rudsar structure in the Caspian Sea. According to him, the results of this project could help determine the amount of oil and gas reserves in this region. If the existence of economic reserves is proven, it will be possible to examine and formulate a development plan for similar structures.

Khavasfar, emphasizing the importance of Caspian Sea resources, stated that these resources represent a valuable capacity for the country and should be utilized through exploratory studies and recovery of operational capabilities. He considered the achievement of recoverable oil and gas reserves in the Caspian Sea as an opportunity to help address energy imbalances in the three northern provinces of the country.

Finally, Khavasfar spoke about the possibility of oil exports from the Caspian Sea, stating that the realization of such a possibility depends on future policies and the level of oil production from this region. Meanwhile, the development of oil and gas fields requires long-term planning and collaboration with the subsidiaries of the Ministry of Oil.
