The development of home solar power plants has been significantly emphasized as one of the main axes of the country's electricity industry programs. The capacity for clean electricity production is increasing to reduce pressure on the grid during peak consumption periods and manage energy imbalance.

Increase in Solar Power Plant Capacity

Mostafa Rajabi Mashhadi, the Deputy Minister of Electricity and Energy, announced that the capacity of rooftop solar power plants was about 170 megawatts at the beginning of the government and has now reached 650 megawatts. This increase in capacity is designed to reduce electricity imbalance and provide energy at the consumption site, especially during peak summer consumption.

Rajabi Mashhadi also pointed out that the total capacity of renewable power plants in the country has increased from about 1,250 megawatts to over 6,000 megawatts, and it is planned that this figure will reach 12,000 megawatts by the end of the year. The target set for the construction of 5,000 megawatts of rooftop solar power plants demonstrates the Ministry of Energy's serious commitment to developing this type of energy.

Facilitation of Establishment and Financing Processes

To facilitate the process of establishing home solar power plants, the Ministry of Energy has considered financing equivalent to 80% of the costs. Additionally, these power plants can connect to low-voltage networks, which reduces the costs of developing and connecting large power plants to the grid. Furthermore, guidelines for aggregator activities have been developed to collect the electricity produced by small power plants and effectively supply it on the green electricity board.

Helya Sadat Hosseini, the executor of innovative projects at SATBA, announced that 25 platforms have been activated across the country for the installation and commissioning of home power plants. These platforms act as a bridge between SATBA, the national electricity grid, and applicants, helping facilitate access to technical information and equipment for applicants.

Given the electricity imbalance and increased outages during peak summer consumption, the demand for establishing home solar power plants has surged significantly. Hosseini stated that the number of applicants has multiplied several times since Esfand, with over 100% growth in this area.

Ultimately, the development of home and small-scale solar power plants has become one of the main paths for the Ministry of Energy to address electricity imbalance. Achieving the goal of constructing 5,000 megawatts of rooftop solar power plants requires the facilitation of processes, provision of equipment, and expansion of financial support.
