The Mineral Europa, described as the world's first dry cargo ship powered by ammonia, has completed its sea trials and is ready to begin its journey to Australia. This ship was built at the Qingdao Beihai shipyard in China and is owned by the Belgian company CMB.TECH.
Technical Details and Features of the Ship
The Mineral Europa is equipped with a dual-fuel engine capable of operating on ammonia and conventional marine fuels. These features allow the ship to move towards decarbonizing the shipping industry by using cleaner fuels and reducing environmental pollution. CMB.TECH plans to add 21 ammonia-powered ships to its fleet by 2029, including 18 dry cargo ships, one container ship, and two chemical tankers.
