TDI-Brooks, in collaboration with Taka Hydrocor Indonesia, is responsible for implementing the geographical and environmental monitoring program along the coasts of Timor-Leste. This project is designed to support the development of TLNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) programs and to provide the necessary information for designing the gas export pipeline route from the large Sunris field to Natarbora on the southern coast of Timor-Leste.
Monitoring Program Details
The program, which has been assigned to TDI-Brooks by the Ministry of Oil and Mineral Resources of this country, includes conducting approximately 508 seabed tests. These tests include gravity CPTs, piston cores, box cores, and cyclic T-bar measurements. This geographical data will provide vital information for engineering design, assessing geographical hazards, and determining the pipeline route.

Environmental Study and Operation Timeline
Alongside the geographical surveys, the environmental study will also include 16 temporary stations where 40 sediment samples and 40 water samples will be collected. Field operations for both geographical and environmental areas are set to begin in the first half of January 2027. Additionally, last week, the Dutch contractor Fugro signed a contract to conduct monitoring on the pipelines in the same two fields. This contract includes a plan to identify marine sites, which involves geographical surveys, seismic assessments, and monitoring with autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs).
Sources report that this area includes deep waters with depths exceeding 3000 meters. Project planning and relocation activities are expected to commence in the third quarter of 2026, while marine monitoring operations are scheduled to begin in the fourth quarter of 2026. The marine campaign will last for approximately three months.
