Tapico (Investment Holding of Oil, Gas, and Petrochemical Supply) has taken a new step in energy management and optimizing energy consumption in the petrochemical industries by obtaining a type one gas operator license. The main goal of this action is to reduce energy waste and increase productivity in industrial and petrochemical companies.
Objectives and Benefits of the Type One Gas Operator License
This license allows Tapico to utilize the economic capacities of the gas savings certificate mechanism. One of the key features of this mechanism is a zero transfer rate for the volume of gas equivalent to the certificate used for delivery or settlement of consumption. This advantage helps reduce the effective cost of energy supply for industries and can consequently lead to improved operational efficiency and reduced gas waste.
In line with this goal, the National Iranian Gas Company has also launched a comprehensive development and empowerment program for about 12,000 converted personnel, focusing on optimizing energy consumption and reducing energy imbalance. Thus, industrial companies can play a significant role in reducing gas imbalance by implementing efficiency and savings projects instead of solely focusing on consumption limitations.
New Agreements for Energy Consumption Optimization
Tapico has also signed the first four-party agreement with Firmco Pars Engineering and Installation Company and three petrochemical companies: Fanavaran Petrochemical, Khorasan Petrochemical, and Persian Iran Gas. This agreement aims to identify and implement projects related to energy consumption optimization and the use of savings certificate capacities.
According to the defined cooperation model, Tapico will be responsible for leading the macro energy management policies, while Firmco Pars will serve as the technical and executive arm responsible for implementing the identified projects. These projects can help optimize energy consumption and reduce gas waste in industrial units.
Ultimately, by obtaining the type one gas operator license and developing cooperation among subsidiary companies, Tapico aims to strengthen energy management and safeguard the economic interests of group companies, shareholders, and social security retirees. This approach can lead to generating revenue from savings certificates and increasing production resilience during peak consumption periods.
