Taihan Cable & Solution has changed the name of its new vessel, which it purchased from the DOF Group, to Taihan Connector. This name change is aimed at preserving corporate identity as well as the recognition and credibility of the vessel in the global market.
Details of the New Vessel
The Taihan Connector vessel, designed by the Dutch manufacturer Damen, is built in the 10,000-ton class and measures 138.4 meters in length. This vessel, built in 2016, has been involved in 27 different projects and has installed approximately 1,300 kilometers of underwater cable in Europe and other international markets.
Capabilities and Applications
Taihan Connector has the capacity to carry up to 7,000 tons of underwater cable at one time and can be utilized in inter-farm and export cable installation projects in offshore wind farms, as well as long-term connection projects and HVDC underwater cables. These capabilities demonstrate the high capacity and ability of this vessel to execute large projects in the marine energy industry.
Taihan purchased this vessel from the Norwegian marine services group DOF in May 2026, with delivery to Taihan taking place in July of the same year. With this purchase, Taihan Cable & Solution now operates the only fleet of two cable-laying vessels (CLV) in South Korea, dedicated to offshore wind projects. The new fleet includes the vessels PALOS and Taihan Connector.
These changes in the fleet structure and the enhancement of vessel capabilities can help strengthen Taihan's position in international markets and increase the company's share in large energy projects.
