SSE Renewables has chosen Seaway7 as the preferred supplier for the engineering, procurement, construction, and installation (EPCI) of wind turbine foundations and inter-array cables for the 1.4 gigawatt Berwick Bank B wind project in Scotland.
Contract Details and Job Impacts
This agreement, which includes the design, procurement, and installation of foundations and underwater cables, is subject to final contract approval, as SSE aims to make a final investment decision (FID) for Berwick Bank B in 2027. The planned work is expected to create 465 jobs in the UK, including 400 jobs in Scotland.

Seaway7 expects to create around 160 direct roles and will manage this work from its base in Aberdeen. Additionally, 105 other jobs are anticipated to be created in the UK supply chain. About 200 other direct and indirect jobs are also expected through foundation management at a Scottish port to be announced later.
Berwick Bank B Project and Previous Phases
SSE has stated that the Seaway7 contract adds the number of jobs created or supported through Berwick Bank B commitments to around 600 jobs in the UK, including over 500 jobs in Scotland. This figure includes plans to establish an operations and maintenance base at Montrose Port, which is expected to create 100 long-term jobs and about 30 construction roles.
Berwick Bank B is the second phase of SSE's 4.1 gigawatt offshore wind project in the Firth of Forth, located approximately 38 kilometers off the coast of Scotland. The Scottish Government granted full project consent in July 2025, and Phase B, with a capacity of 1.4 gigawatts, secured a 20-year contract for difference (CfD) in the seventh round of UK allocations in January 2026.
The preferred supplier agreement between SSE and Seaway7 is based on the companies' previous collaborations on the Beatrice and Seagreen offshore wind farms in Scotland, as well as their ongoing work at Dogger Bank in England.
