The South Pars Phase 8 refinery successfully returned to the production cycle ahead of schedule after completing major repairs of phases 20 and 21. These repairs, which began in the early hours of September 7, helped reduce equipment downtime and maintain gas production at one of the country's most important production facilities.
Reduction in Production Downtime
Hadi Chabook, the manager of the Phase 8 refinery, announced that the major repairs of phases 20 and 21 this year were executed in a total of 9 days, while 4.5 days were allocated for each phase. This reduction in downtime has decreased by about 70 percent compared to last year.

He stated: "Planning for this operation began last October, and through specialized meetings and coordination among various units, activities were planned in such a way that while completing the repairs, production downtime was minimized." This action is being taken at a time when the demand for gas significantly increases in the cold season, and any reduction in the downtime of production units can be effective in ensuring gas supply.
Efforts and Coordination of Specialized Teams
The manager of the South Pars Phase 8 refinery continued: "About 658 specialized and operational personnel participated in this year's major repairs, and the total man-hours anticipated for this operation reached approximately 71,000 man-hours." These activities included repairs and inspections of gas export turbo compressors, and part of the corrective activities aimed at increasing reliability and creating capacity for future production enhancement were also carried out.
Chabook emphasized that adhering to safety requirements was one of the main priorities of this operation, and despite the high volume of activities, the major repairs of the Phase 8 refinery were completed without incident. By compressing and optimizing the repair process, the fourth gas line was launched on September 15, and this refinery was fully integrated into the production cycle ahead of schedule.
