Creating Local Opportunities and Developing the Supply Chain
SLB OneSubsea plans to establish a service base in Mozambique to support this project and provide services to regional operators. This initiative follows the creation of local training and job opportunities and supports the development of regional supply chains.
Mads Hjelmeland, CEO of SLB OneSubsea, stated that this contract demonstrates their ability to provide integrated subsea solutions that help customers accelerate development and maximize productivity from deep resources. The Rovuma project represents a significant opportunity for Mozambique's growing LNG sector, and SLB OneSubsea is eager to continue its collaborations with ExxonMobil's operations in Africa.
Rovuma LNG Project
The Rovuma LNG project involves the development of upstream facilities that transport gas from resources in Area 4 offshore to the Rovuma LNG liquefaction plant onshore. This project includes 18 subsea wells and a network of subsea pipelines and manifolds. The anticipated production capacity of this project will be 18.6 million tons of LNG per year.
In August, ExxonMobil signed pre-investment contracts worth $1.1 billion for the supply of subsea production systems, large-diameter production valves, and subsea pipeline for this project. The partners in Area 4, in addition to ExxonMobil, include Empresa Nacional de Hidrocarbonetos (ENH), China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC), Eni, KOGAS, and XRG affiliated with ADNOC.
