SK Lim has been appointed as the new CEO of G2 Ocean. These changes will take effect from January 1, 2027, following the change of ownership in Gearbulk, which is now 72% owned by Mitsui OSK Lines (MOL) and 28% owned by Marubeni Corporation.
SK Lim's Management at G2 Ocean
Since March 2020, SK Lim has served as the CEO of G2 Ocean's Pacific operations, overseeing a region that has increasingly become important for the company's global trade. He will succeed Arthur English, who has led G2 Ocean since January 2020.
Management Changes at Gearbulk
Following the management changes, Arthur English will be appointed as the chairman of the board of Gearbulk and will also serve as the CEO of the parent company. Christian Ybsen will step down as the executive chairman of G2 Ocean and the chairman and CEO of Gearbulk.
English stated: "I have complete confidence in SK Lim as the right person to lead G2 Ocean into the future," referring to his work in building the Pacific business and customer relationships.
G2 Ocean, established in 2017 through a partnership between Gearbulk and Grieg Maritime Group, manages over 120 vessels across more than 30 trade routes, carrying a diverse range of cargoes including paper, forest products, aluminum, steel, industrial minerals, and project cargo.
