Following the occurrence of dangerous maneuvers by Danish military helicopters near its warships in the Baltic Sea, Russia has lodged a complaint with the Danish government. Vladimir Barbin, the Russian ambassador to Denmark, announced at a press conference that officials from his country have sent an official letter to Copenhagen and expressed concern over these actions.

Incident Details

Barbin mentioned at the press conference that on September 11, 2023, a Russian destroyer named "Vice-Admiral Kulakov" fired two signal lights at a Danish military helicopter that was dangerously close to the aircraft. This incident has provoked strong reactions from Russian officials, and Barbin has called for necessary actions from the Danes to prevent such occurrences from happening again.

History of Tensions

This is not the first time Russia has expressed dissatisfaction with Denmark's military activities near its ships. Barbin referred to a similar incident last year when a Danish Air Force helicopter flew over the Russian destroyer "Vice-Admiral Kulakov" on August 27. He noted that such maneuvers not only increase the risk of accidents but can also affect the equipment of Russian ships.

He also pointed out that in last year's incident, the helicopter did not establish any radio communication and did not respond to warnings. This issue has raised concerns regarding maritime security and the potential for unintended accidents in the Baltic Sea.

Danish Government's Response

The Danish government is still reviewing this complaint, and it seems that the country's military officials will soon respond to the matter. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated in response to questions on this topic that he does not have accurate information and cannot comment on the issue.

Recent tensions between Russia and Denmark regarding military activities at sea have once again come to the forefront, especially under current conditions where maritime security in Europe is under pressure. Given the increase in military activities in the region and political developments, such incidents could easily escalate into larger crises.
