In the bustling world of cryptocurrency mining, Mostafa Rajabi-Mashhadi, the Deputy Minister of Electricity and Energy, recently made sensational statements about the government's serious determination to deal with unauthorized miners. This official, on the sidelines of the inauguration ceremony of 4 units of the Chamshir hydroelectric power plant, told reporters that unauthorized miners will not only face power cuts but may also be sentenced to imprisonment.

Intensified Supervision and Control

Rajabi-Mashhadi emphasized that in recent years, due to the increased use of energy resources and the resulting crises, supervision of cryptocurrency mining activities, especially in the unauthorized sector, has significantly increased. He pointed out that these miners illegally use electricity resources, stating: "Cryptocurrency mining must be conducted legally and in accordance with specified regulations, and any violation of these laws will be pursued rigorously."

This official also referred to the negative impacts of unauthorized mining on the country's electricity network, saying: "These activities can lead to disruptions in electricity supply for other consumers, and as a result, we must deal with them decisively." He added that these actions would include heavy financial penalties as well as legal proceedings.

The Future of Mining in Iran

Rajabi-Mashhadi further pointed out that although cryptocurrency mining can contribute to the country's economic growth, it must be done within the framework of laws and regulations. He urged legal miners to register and adhere to safety guidelines to benefit from this industry.

It seems that the government intends not only to prevent the waste of energy resources with this action but also to regulate the market and create transparency in this area, providing a suitable environment for legal activities. Therefore, unauthorized miners should soon consider changing their behavior, as there will be no escape from the government's stringent consequences.
