Precious Shipping, based in Thailand, has secured a new shipment with its ultramax tanker named Sunisa Naree for PACC Line in Singapore. This charter commenced on September 23 and will last for 11 to 13 months.

Charter Details and Rate

The rate for this charter is set at a variable equivalent of 103 percent of the weighted average time charter index Baltic Exchange Supramax Index 63K over the past 15 days. Precious Shipping has announced the current rate to be approximately $23,000 per day.

History of the Tanker Sunisa Naree

The tanker Sunisa Naree was built in 2016 and has a capacity of approximately 63,000 dwt. This tanker was delivered by Taizhou Sanfu Ship Engineering in China. This new shipment follows the company's previous agreement with the new tanker Ratima Naree, which was directly transferred from Sanfu to a 12 to 14-month charter with Trafigura Maritime Logistics.

Strategic Developments in Precious Shipping's Fleet

Precious Shipping is shifting its fleet strategy towards larger and younger vessels while phasing out older Handysize and Supramax ships. The company has also ordered four ultramax tankers with a capacity of 63,500 dwt under a $133.46 million program from Sanfu, with two already delivered and the remaining two expected to be delivered by the end of the first quarter of 2027.

The management of the company, under the leadership of Khalid Hashim, has recently diversified into other areas and has entered the tanker sector directly and through its 45 percent partnership with Nusantara Maritime.
