Precious Shipping has signed a contract for four new ships in China, continuing to strengthen its fleet. This contract, valued at $141.8 million, is for four new bulk carriers with a capacity of 64,500 tons (ultramax), with delivery scheduled for April, July, and October 2030, and January 2031.
Details of the New Order
The new ships are larger than the 63,500-ton vessels previously ordered from the same company (Taizhou Sanfu Ship Engineering). The price for each new ship in this contract is set at $35.45 million. Previously, Precious Shipping had also ordered four ships in 2024 for a total price of $133.46 million, with each priced at $33.36 million.

Analysis of New Design and Technology
The new ships are based on the latest generation design of 64,500-ton vessels, featuring enhancements such as increased cargo capacity, advanced propulsion systems, shaft generators, updated hull forms, and energy-saving measures. These features allow the new ships to operate more efficiently and contribute to the overall performance improvement of the fleet.
After the delivery of the four new ships and two others from the previous series, Precious Shipping expects its fleet to reach 47 ships with a total capacity of 2.34 million tons of bulk carriers. This new order is considered part of the company's fleet renewal program, in which older and lower-capacity ships are sold, and larger, more efficient ships are ordered in their place.
