Alamdār Bābāyi, the CEO of Parsian Gas Refinery, announced the implementation of major repairs at sites one and two of this refinery. These actions are taken to ensure the stable supply of gas in the country during peak consumption days and as the cold months approach.
Planning Major Repairs for Stable Gas Supply
The CEO emphasized the importance of equipment and their failure history, stating that the planning of repairs is based on technical and preventive assessments. This year, major repair operations and technical inspections were planned and executed for the dehydration units at Parsian site 2 and units 400, 500, and 800 at Parsian site 1.
These activities included assessing the technical condition of equipment based on risk-based inspection calculations (RBI) and suitability for FFS service. Major repairs of turbines and process compressors and the execution of preventive maintenance programs for fixed, rotating, electrical, and instrumentation equipment were among the other actions taken.
Preventive Strategies to Avoid Sudden Shutdowns
Bābāyi emphasized the importance of preventing sudden shutdowns and ensuring maximum production during peak consumption days by strictly implementing preventive maintenance and analyzing the failure history of equipment. Prioritizing sensitive equipment and ensuring full operational readiness of backup equipment are also among the strategies of this refinery.
Actions such as performance testing of instrumentation air compressors, fire pumps, and water transfer pumps, creating management dashboards for continuous monitoring of operational status, and connecting the instrumentation air network to the pressure boosting station's air line to enhance air supply reliability are among the measures taken.
The CEO emphasized the role of continuous monitoring of equipment and risk management in reducing equipment downtime and increasing their availability in critical conditions, stating that continuous monitoring of operational conditions and systematic risk management enables early identification of failure signs before production line shutdowns occur.
Safety as a Red Line in Repair Operations
Bābāyi stated regarding safety and HSE standards during intensive repair operations: "Adhering to health, safety, and environmental standards is a red line for operations." In this regard, HSE experts continuously monitor confined spaces and work at heights through field presence.
He pointed out that relying on the capabilities of domestic specialists and implementing reverse engineering projects has accelerated the repair processes and reduced the costs of supplying spare parts, adding that by manufacturing, redesigning, and reverse engineering critical compressor components, the waiting time for supply has significantly decreased.
Bābāyi reminded that achieving technical knowledge for repairs and major overhauls of turbo compressors by domestic specialists has minimized dependence on foreign resources and expedited the return of equipment to the processing cycle. Parsian Gas Refinery has made significant strides in localizing equipment in collaboration with knowledge-based companies.
