Neander Marine has been recognized with certification for the Dtorque 50 diesel engine as a new option for use in lifeboats according to SOLAS (Safety of Life at Sea) standards. This certification allows lifeboat manufacturers, operators, and shipbuilders to utilize Neander Marine's diesel engine technology in these applications.
Certification Details and Applications
The first Dtorque 50 engines with SOLAS specifications have recently been manufactured and sent to Spain, where these engines will be installed on a rescue vessel. This delivery marks the first time the Dtorque 50 will be used following certification, showcasing the opportunities now available for this product.
The mentioned certification was obtained through "MED 1.37: Propulsion Engine for Lifeboats, Electric Engine" and includes both Module B and E. This certification enables lifeboat operators to take advantage of the benefits of diesel propulsion, such as fuel safety, durability, and reduced maintenance needs in an application where reliable performance is critical.
Implications and New Opportunities
Paula Blanco, CEO of Neander Marine, expressed her satisfaction, stating: "We are very proud of our team's achievements in this certification. There has been a clear demand for the Dtorque 50 in the lifeboat market, and this milestone allows us to respond to that demand and pursue new opportunities with our customers and distribution partners." Ben Sherwood, Chief Technology Officer of Neander Marine, emphasized that this certification represents an important endorsement for the Dtorque 50 and the team behind it.
Sherwood added: "Achieving this certification is a significant validation for the product and our team's work, and it is particularly important that we have obtained both Module B and E, which not only lends credibility to the product but also to the way we produce it."
This certification is part of Neander Marine's strategic roadmap to expand the markets covered by the Dtorque 50 and provide diesel propulsion for professional marine applications in various geographic areas. Thus, Neander Marine aims to broaden its service range and meet diverse market needs in the field of lifeboats and other marine applications.
