On September 15, 2026, Russia attacked gas stations in Kyiv, and Ukraine struck an oil refinery in Syzran located in the Samara region of Russia. Details of the Attacks in Kyiv and Syzran
In recent nighttime attacks, Russia launched 200 drones towards Kyiv and other cities, resulting in the deaths of two people. In addition to gas stations, energy infrastructure and ports in other regions were also targeted. In response, Ukraine attacked the oil refinery in Syzran and also targeted drone production facilities in the regions of Tahanrog and Oryol.

Volodymyr Zelensky, the President of Ukraine, announced that the country is ready to halt attacks but requires credible guarantees from its partners that Russia will do the same. Meanwhile, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov described Trump's proposal to stop the attacks as a "very good idea," but stated that further actions are necessary to reduce global fuel prices.

This year, Russia has damaged 16 gas stations in Kyiv. City officials stated that despite these attacks, there is no risk of fuel shortages as there is diverse logistics in place. Andriy Takachov from the Kyiv military administration stated that the enemy continues to carefully target gas stations.
Following these attacks, several explosions were heard in Kyiv and its surrounding areas, with two individuals identified as victims of these attacks. Additionally, one person lost their life in Zaporizhia in southeastern Ukraine. These attacks continue while previous U.S. efforts to mediate a ceasefire regarding energy infrastructure have been unsuccessful.
As mutual attacks between Russia and Ukraine on energy infrastructure continue, the global fuel situation has been severely affected. U.S. President Donald Trump has stated that reducing these attacks could help lower fuel prices globally. Meanwhile, Ukraine is seeking ways to strengthen its defenses against these attacks.
