Mohammad Kaab-Amir, Vice Chairman of the Energy Commission of the Parliament, following the warnings from the Ministry of Oil about the energy imbalance in winter, stressed the importance of creating a "war room" for energy crisis management. He pointed out the gas shortage and its impact on the country's industries, stating that the current structure of the fuel basket needs to be reviewed.
Challenges of Energy Supply in Winter
Kaab-Amir stated that the high share of gas, which is over 70 to 80 percent in the country's energy basket, has brought us to a critical point, and emphasized that more attention should be paid to diversifying the energy basket and using clean fuels. He added: "The current imbalance goes beyond a seasonal shortage and is rooted in fundamental errors in the arrangement of the country's fuel basket."

The Need for a Unified Command Center
The Vice Chairman of the Energy Commission of the Parliament said: "The world is moving towards reducing fossil fuel consumption, and we must also strive to accelerate the development of renewable energies and solar power plants." He also emphasized the necessity of integrating policies and managing conflicts of interest among various agencies, noting: "The country needs a unified command center in the energy sector to ensure effective energy supply and distribution."
Consequences of Energy Imbalance on the Economy
Kaab-Amir referred to the economic damages caused by the energy imbalance and said: "Some industries, such as petrochemicals, steel, and cement, which are among the key foreign exchange earners of the country, suffer the most from the imbalance." He also pointed to the need to replace natural gas with alternative fuels like hydrogen in factory furnaces, adding: "This change not only alleviates gas limitations but also provides a clean and green fuel that guarantees the export value of Iranian products."
Proposed Solutions and Measures
This parliament representative further emphasized transparency and cultural development in the energy sector, stating: "We must focus on monitoring and controlling network waste. The lack of online and smart monitoring systems in the gas network contributes to widespread waste and theft of the network." He announced the urgent need to launch these systems to control leaks and violations online.
Kaab-Amir concluded by saying: "Managing the upcoming winter is a test to prove the effectiveness of energy governance and the synergy of all relevant agencies, and the Parliament is fully prepared to facilitate the implementation of these transformative programs by holding meetings and creating coordination."
