Mohammad Jafar Ghaemian, the Executive Vice President, announced a significant gas imbalance in the country at the opening ceremony of the Tehran Livestock, Poultry, and Related Industries Exhibition. According to him, the country has been facing a gas imbalance of 530 million cubic meters since last year, and damage to the Assaluyeh facilities has put additional pressure on energy supply. Ghaemian highlighted the importance of energy consumption management and urged producers to plan for reducing their units' electricity and gas needs before consumption intensifies in winter.
Gas Imbalance Situation in Iran
Ghaemian referred to the gas imbalance figures in his remarks, stating that last year there was a daily imbalance of about 300 million cubic meters and a disruption of 230 million cubic meters in the country's daily gas capacity. The total of these two figures reaches 530 million cubic meters, but the unit has been mistakenly reported as "liters per day." In technical reports, the volume of natural gas is usually expressed in cubic meters, which requires correction and official clarification. Additionally, part of the damaged capacity in South Pars has been recovered in recent weeks. Therefore, the announced figures alone cannot indicate a net gas shortage on October 18.

Importance of South Pars and Its Impact on Gas Supply
The Assaluyeh region and South Pars facilities are considered a key part of Iran's energy infrastructure. Supplying and processing natural gas from the South Pars field, as the country's main gas source, is extremely vital. Damage to the refineries in this region can lead to a reduction in sweet gas supply capacity, even if gas extraction from the wells has not been completely halted. For this reason, the reconstruction of damaged facilities requires specialized equipment, skilled manpower, and investment.
Ghaemian also emphasized the necessity of cooperation among consumers and the management of existing resources to prevent energy cuts for production units. As the cold months approach, the need for planning gas distribution among residential consumption, power plants, and industries becomes more complex. Increased consumption in winter and the inability to adequately supply gas can put more pressure on the energy network.
At the Livestock and Poultry Exhibition, the topic of energy is very important due to the industry's dependence on sustainable energy supply for various activities. Disruptions in energy supply can increase operational costs and affect production continuity. Therefore, reducing energy consumption in this sector requires careful and intelligent planning.
