Marine Management Limited (MDL) has completed a project for the replacement of a cable and the installation of a pipeline on the shores of Egypt. This project was part of the Oceaneering underwater campaign, aimed at restoring production capacity in two offshore fields in the Mediterranean.
Project Details
MDL announced that for this project, a multipurpose vessel named Energy Savanah was utilized to replace a damaged production cable. Following this, the installation of a cable termination assembly (UTA) and pipeline was carried out in Egyptian waters. This work was done to restore production capacity in the fields.
Equipment and Services Provided
The project package included MDL's third-generation rail drive system, a horizontal lay system with a four-line tensioner, and other necessary equipment for cable transportation and installation. MDL also provided additional project management and engineering services, which included the development of transportation methodologies and marine safety design. These services were provided from the Petrodhed energy services facilities in northeastern Scotland.
MDL's project manager, Jim Millar, emphasized the importance of planning and operational readiness in critical production infrastructure repair projects, stating: "This campaign brought together various aspects of MDL's capabilities and close collaboration with Oceaneering ensured that all aspects were met in the challenging Mediterranean Sea."
This project also demonstrates the value of MDL's modular rental fleet and integrated project service approach, which helps develop solutions tailored to customer operational needs and vessel configurations.
