Guangzhou Port has recently launched the first zero carbon container route in the Greater Bay Area of China. This route operates as a border service between Nansha and Hong Kong using an electric ship named Sui Gang Dian Hang 02, which has a capacity of 240 standard containers (TEU).
Details of Cargo and Operations
This ship has started its operations this week, sending cargo including furniture and consumer goods to international terminals in Hong Kong. The ship uses container batteries that can be swapped by cranes or charged directly. Additionally, an onboard platform has been designed to monitor energy consumption, maintenance, and operations of the ship and shores.
