The Jazmourian Special Economic Zone, which is set to be established near the Bahadorabad Bridge in the south of Kerman province, is currently in the final stages of obtaining legal permits and cabinet approval. This area, covering approximately 200 hectares, is recognized as a vital project for economic development and job creation in the region.
Background and Current Status
The establishment of the Jazmourian Special Economic Zone dates back about 23 years, when the officials of the province and the country concluded that the existing potentials in this area could act as a driving force for development. However, the implementation process of this project has faced repeated delays, and the lights of this zone remain off.
During Dr. Pezeshkian's government, more serious efforts were initiated to launch this zone. Changing the organization responsible for establishing this zone and obtaining initial approval from the government were among the actions taken in this regard. Due to its favorable geographical location and proximity to mineral and energy resources, this zone can provide numerous economic opportunities for the residents of the area.
Economic and Social Impacts
Kerman Governor Mohammad Ali Talebi, during his recent visit to the project site, emphasized the positive impacts of this zone on job creation and economic development. The creation of 10,000 direct job opportunities in this area is the main goal of this plan, which is expected to help increase the living standards of the people and reduce unemployment in the south of the province.
Additionally, the representative of the people of Kahnuj in the Islamic Consultative Assembly, Mansour Shakrollahi, emphasized that the establishment of the Jazmourian Special Economic Zone is a fundamental and infrastructural action towards balanced development in this region. He also pointed out the importance of changing the responsible institution for launching this zone as a decisive decision and urged officials to take the necessary actions to initiate this project as soon as possible.
Ultimately, it is expected that with the final approval of the cabinet, the operational implementation of this project will begin, and the people of southern Kerman province will benefit from its advantages. Given the existing potentials, this zone could become an important economic hub in the country and play a significant role in attracting investors and creating new industries.
