Iran and Kazakhstan achieved a trade value of over $430 million in 2025, showing significant growth compared to the previous year. Nasrin Pabarja, the commercial attaché of Iran in Kazakhstan, pointed to the existing capacities for expanding trade cooperation between the two countries and emphasized that the economic structures of both countries have complementary capacities.

Economic and Trade Potentials

Iran, due to its geographical position and access to international transport corridors, has a high capacity for developing trade at the regional level. Kazakhstan, with its natural resources and agricultural and mineral capacities, is recognized as one of the key markets in Central Asia for Iran. Given the diversity in their production and export capacities, these two countries can have effective cooperation in various economic fields.

Free Trade Agreement and New Opportunities

Utilizing the free trade agreement between Iran and the Eurasian Economic Union can help develop Iran's exports to Kazakhstan and the member countries of this union. A precise understanding of the target market and adherence to technical requirements and standards are among the vital factors for success in these markets. Establishing direct communication between economic actors of both countries and identifying market needs is also of special importance.

Pabarja emphasized the transport and logistical capacities between the two countries and noted that optimal use of geographical position and communication routes can facilitate trade exchanges and expand economic relations between the two countries. These factors, alongside efforts to develop industrial and mining cooperation, can lay the groundwork for sustainable growth in trade exchanges between Iran and Kazakhstan.
