Impact on Refinery Production
The governor of Khuzestan clarified that the degrees of burns among the injured vary, but fortunately, they are not severe. He noted that production at the refinery is at its normal level and this unexpected incident has not disrupted the production process. According to Movaali Zadeh, "There are no specific issues in the quantity and quality of the products from this refinery."
Fardin Rashidi, the CEO of the Abadan refinery, also mentioned the damage to one of the facility's furnaces during this visit, stating: "This furnace has not been essential in operational mode for years and has only served as a pre-heater." He also added that the atmospheric section of this unit has been launched with 75,000 barrels and will reach 80,000 barrels thereafter. This unit can continue to operate effectively without this furnace.
Rashidi further referred to the total operational capacity of this refinery, stating: "Currently, the refinery units are operating at a capacity of 430,000 barrels." He also announced that the production of gasoline, which was previously at 11 million liters per day, has now decreased to about 8 million liters, which is expected to return to 11 million liters per day by tomorrow with the stabilization of the conversion units.
The CEO of the Abadan refinery concluded by stating that the incident with this furnace has not caused any disruption in gasoline production, as this equipment has not played any main processing role and is only used as a pre-heater in emergency situations. He also announced that this furnace will be rebuilt within the next two months to serve as a backup for precautionary measures.
