Ibrahim Fakhri, the director general of standards in West Azerbaijan, announced the gas cut off at 16 compressed natural gas (CNG) stations in the province due to non-compliance with safety requirements. In an interview with reporters, he elaborated on the supervisory actions of this directorate in the current year and emphasized that CNG stations must be inspected annually for safety.

Supervisory Actions and the Importance of Safety

Fakhri stated that the operation of these stations requires a valid safety certificate, and if the safety standards are not met, their gas supply will be cut off. According to him, despite protests and issues arising from the cessation of services at these stations, compliance with safety requirements and protecting the health of citizens remain a priority. The director general of standards in West Azerbaijan also referred to the 98 inspections conducted at CNG stations since the beginning of the year and stressed the necessity of adhering to standards.

Inspection Results and Other Actions

The director general of standards in West Azerbaijan further mentioned other supervisory actions of this directorate, stating that since the beginning of the year, 737 inspections have been conducted at monitored centers, including educational, recreational, and play equipment centers. Additionally, Fakhri reported the completion of 1,514 periodic tests of light scales and 2,716 tests of liquid fuel and CNG dispensers. These tests are conducted to ensure the accuracy of measuring equipment and to protect consumer rights.

He also referred to the evaluation of compliance for imported and exported goods, announcing that 5,708 evaluations for imported goods and 230 evaluations for exported goods have been conducted. These evaluations have led to an improvement in the province's ranking in the assessment of imported goods from sixth place last year to second place. Fakhri concluded by announcing the issuance of 16 halal certificates in the province and added that the National Standard Organization of Iran is the legal authority for issuing halal certificates based on Sharia and Ja'fari jurisprudence.
