Iran and Kazakhstan, as two countries with high economic capacities, are developing their trade relations. According to available statistics, the value of trade between the two countries will increase from about $340 million in 2024 to over $430 million in 2025. This increase in trade presents an opportunity for both countries to capitalize on each other's economic and commercial capacities.

Economic Capacities of the Two Countries

Kazakhstan, as the largest country in Central Asia, possesses high natural resources and agricultural and mineral capacities. This country acts as a communication bridge between Iran and other member countries of the Eurasian Economic Union, thanks to its strong transportation infrastructure. In contrast, Iran, with its diverse production in various fields including food industries, petrochemicals, and technical and engineering services, can serve as a supplier for Kazakhstan's needs.

Cooperation Opportunities Within the Framework of the Free Trade Agreement

The free trade agreement between Iran and the Eurasian Economic Union, which will come into effect on May 15, 2025, allows the two countries to exchange goods more preferentially and freely. Nasrin Pabraj, Iran's trade advisor in Kazakhstan, emphasized the necessity of accurately understanding the market and technical and standard requirements, stating that effective use of the capacities of this agreement can help develop Iran's exports to Kazakhstan and other member countries of this union.

In this regard, paying attention to the needs of the Kazakh market and selecting products that match its demand can help increase the volume of trade exchanges. Additionally, utilizing the transportation and logistical capacities of both countries can facilitate trade exchanges and expand economic cooperation.
