The German cargo ship 'Emil' (Emil), which was abandoned due to an attack by a Russian drone, is moving in the Black Sea towards the shores of Bulgaria. This ship has been unmanned since August 5 and is currently about 21 miles from the large Odessa area, heading southwest.

Details of the attack and current status

The 'Emil' ship, which has a capacity of 175,463 tons and a length of 292 meters, was built in 2012 and is registered in Liberia. This ship caught fire and suffered technical system failures following an attack by a Russian drone, forcing the crew to abandon the vessel. Reports indicate that another attack has occurred on this ship, but it remains at sea.

According to recent reports, this cargo ship is currently located in Bulgaria's exclusive economic zone. The Bulgarian Air Force and Navy are conducting reconnaissance operations to track the movement of this ship. On October 4, it was determined that the ship had approached about 40 miles east of Cape Shabla in northeastern Bulgaria.

Consequences and possible actions

This is not the first time Bulgaria has faced such a situation. Last December, a shadow tanker named 'Kairos' rushed to the shores of Bulgaria following an attack by Ukraine on Turkey. At that time, Bulgaria supported the crew of the tanker and moved the ship to a safe haven. The owners of this ship later paid the related costs to Bulgaria, and the ship was sold.

Given that the 'Emil' ship is still moving and there are no signs of an attempt to rescue it, this situation has raised concerns about security in the Black Sea. The ship is moving due to currents and winds in the sea, and Bulgarian officials have stated that they are prepared to take any necessary action should the situation change.
