GEOxyz has begun geophysical surveys at the East Anglia Two wind farm site owned by ScottishPower Renewables in the North Sea off the coast of England. These surveys aim to collect seabed data at the planned locations for wind turbine installation.
Details of the Survey Operations
The surveys cover an area of approximately 218 square kilometers located about 46 kilometers off the eastern coast of England. GEOxyz is conducting the operations around the clock using its 41.9-meter vessel named Geo Ocean IV. This vessel utilizes a multi-beam echo sounder mounted on the hull to map the height and shape of the seabed and collect reflection data.

Impact of Weather Conditions on Survey Scheduling
According to a notice to mariners, adverse weather conditions have led to an extension of the survey schedule, and its completion is now anticipated by October 30, subject to weather conditions. The East Anglia Two wind farm, with a capacity of 960 megawatts, will consist of 64 Siemens Gamesa SG 14-236 DD turbines installed on monopile foundations. Preparations for construction are currently underway, and marine works for this project will begin in 2027.
ScottishPower Renewables has recently completed the installation of two offshore ducts in Suffolk for the project's export cables. This wind farm is expected to be commercially operational by late 2028.
