First Ship Lease Trust (FSL) has announced an agreement to sell the tanker Speciality, which was built in 2006, to an undisclosed buyer. This move is part of an ongoing trend to reduce the company's fleet in recent years.
Transaction Details
According to published information, the subsidiary FSL-14 has entered into a contract to sell the tanker Speciality. This tanker has a capacity of 4,426 tons and was built at the Qingshan shipyard in China. The buyer has placed a 10% deposit in an escrow account, but FSL has not disclosed the agreed price or the identity of the buyer. Further details of this transaction will be announced after the sale is completed.

Impact on FSL's Fleet
The tanker Speciality was previously employed under a bareboat charter with the James Fisher shipping group, one of FSL's long-time clients. Recent fleet information from FSL indicates that Speciality was returned to the company in May 2026 and subsequently went into lay-up. With this sale, FSL's fleet will be reduced to five tankers, all of which are under existing contracts.
This sale follows previous sales of the tankers Clyde Fisher (built in 2005) in 2025 and Cumbrian Fisher (built in 2004) in December 2024. FSL also extended several contracts with James Fisher at the end of last year, which include the tankers Speciality, Seniority, and Superiority. These extensions resulted in an increase of approximately $12.3 million in contracted future revenue.
