Aventa, a marine engineering company, has acquired Irish Sea Contractors (ISC) with the aim of expanding its services. This acquisition, announced on October 13, 2023, allows Aventa to enhance its capabilities in the installation of underwater cables, construction and maintenance of ports, and commercial diving activities.

Details of the acquisition and Aventa's goals

In a statement released by the company, it was noted that this merger includes services for underwater cables, nearshore installation, construction and maintenance of ports, as well as underwater inspection and repairs. With this acquisition, the AERSUB underwater cable repair solution provided by ISC will be added to Aventa's service portfolio.

Orlian Zokarini, Growth and Talent Director and one of the founders of Aventa, stated: "Customers benefit when knowledge is smoothly transferred from engineering and planning to marine execution." He added: "Combining ISC's delivery experience with our current engineering and consulting expertise will help us improve our capabilities in construction, interface management, and providing support during the installation and maintenance of long-term assets."

Previous projects of Irish Sea Contractors

Irish Sea Contractors has specifically worked on fiber optic and electrical cable projects in Ireland, the UK, and Europe, offering services in cable installation, burial, protection, and remedial activities. The company is well-acquainted with the challenges present in marine infrastructure projects and has extensive experience in this field.

Aventa also announced its intention to invest in its operations in Ireland. This move will advance the company's strategy to expand its operational business alongside engineering and consulting activities. By adding teams and project experience from ISC to the cable handling and installation activities already provided by Aventa's operations unit, the company aims to enhance its services.

Aventa also supports developers, operators, transmission system operators, cable manufacturers, and installation contractors in marine energy and transmission projects. Given the scale and complexity of offshore wind and cross-border energy projects, decisions made during the design phases increasingly require attention to installation methods, seabed conditions, vessel constraints, and marine operational realities.

Ultimately, Aventa emphasized that bringing these disciplines closer together helps customers anticipate operational constraints from the early stages of a project.
