Dajin Heavy Industry has chosen the ULSTEIN HX122 design for the development of its marine installation vessel. This vessel is designed using the U-STERN® hull solution and is optimized specifically for the installation of monopile foundations, jacket foundations, and offshore stations. This move supports the growing demand for large and complex offshore wind energy projects.
Expansion of Dajin Heavy Industry's Capabilities
The selection of the ULSTEIN HX122 design signifies Dajin's expansion from manufacturing, logistics, and transportation into marine installation. By adding marine installation capacity to its current capabilities, Dajin aims to provide more integrated offerings in the offshore wind energy value chain and reduce interactions between various parties in project execution.
Features of the ULSTEIN HX122 Installation Vessel
The new vessel will be capable of installing 4XL monopiles in the future and can also serve as a support for oil and gas construction and decommissioning projects. This flexibility allows Dajin to respond to the growing demands of the offshore wind energy sector while also serving broader marine energy activities.
The ULSTEIN HX122 design has been developed for future installation needs and includes a large working deck, advanced lifting capabilities, dynamic positioning, and ULSTEIN hull innovations. The integration of the U-STERN® solution enables the storage and longitudinal installation of monopiles along the vessel's centerline, aiding installation operations in rough seas. Along with the X-BOW® solution, this design provides operational improvements, enhances vessel movements, and increases the weather window for challenging marine installation campaigns.
This project represents the ongoing development of marine installation assets as the industry prepares for larger foundations and more challenging offshore wind energy projects.
Feng Qi, Vice President of Dajin, stated: "Offshore wind energy has entered a new stage of development, and installation capacity is the main bottleneck for project delivery. The ULSTEIN HX122 project with the U-STERN® solution represents Dajin's strategic plan to close the last link in the delivery of offshore wind energy foundations."
