ConocoPhillips and Venture Global have recently signed a long-term sales and purchase agreement (SPA) to supply 1 million tons per year (mtpa) of liquefied natural gas (LNG) for 20 years, starting in 2030. This contract represents the expanding influence of the United States in the global LNG market.

Contract Details and Its Importance

Mike Sabel, CEO of Venture Global, stated: "Venture Global is proud to welcome ConocoPhillips, one of the leading energy companies in the world, as our long-term partner. This agreement reflects the ongoing market confidence in our ability to deliver safe and low-cost LNG from the United States. We will continue to support ConocoPhillips' growing global portfolio in the coming years."

Venture Global Projects and Production Capacity

Venture Global, with over 100 million tons of capacity in production, construction, or development, has been producing LNG from its first facility since 2022. The company has assets in the LNG supply chain, including LNG production, natural gas transportation, shipping, and regasification. The company's initial projects include the Calcasieu Pass, Plaquemines LNG, and CP2 LNG projects located in Louisiana alongside the Gulf of Mexico.

Additionally, Venture Global is developing carbon capture and storage (CCS) projects at each of its LNG facilities, which will help reduce the environmental impacts of this industry.

This new contract with ConocoPhillips is just one of several agreements that Venture Global has signed this year with European players, including EnBW. These agreements reflect the growing global market demand for LNG from the United States and will help meet the energy needs of various countries in the future.
