CLdN, a company based in Luxembourg, has recently ordered two new tankers with a capacity of 6,700 linear meters from HD Hyundai Heavy Industries. This order, valued at 336.2 billion South Korean won (equivalent to 248 million dollars), is part of the company's fleet development and modernization strategy.
Order Details and Construction Timeline
CLdN has registered these two ships as its fifteenth and sixteenth orders from the South Korean shipbuilding group HD Hyundai in the past decade. The construction of these vessels will begin in early 2028, with delivery scheduled for mid-2029.

Technical Features and Efficiency of the Ships
The new ships are designed primarily for transporting trailers and have additional cargo platforms and more space compared to the H5 class with a capacity of 5,000 linear meters. These vessels can operate using LNG fuel or conventional marine diesel and have also considered space for installing larger electric generators and batteries, which will gradually become usable with technological advancements.
CLdN expects that each of these ships will consume a similar amount of fuel as the 5,000 linear meter vessels while carrying more cargo. This means a 30 to 40 percent improvement in fuel efficiency per ton-kilometer.
CLdN's Investment Policies
This new order continues a decade of ongoing investment in RORO vessels by this European operator. CLdN has announced that it invested around 750 million euros in new RORO ships last year and is gradually moving towards larger vessels.
The recent contract also helps HD Hyundai to experience a stronger year. The shipbuilding group has stated that these two new tankers will bring the number of commercial vessels registered by the company for 2026 to 169, valued at 18.71 billion dollars, which is equivalent to over 80 percent of their annual target.
