The CEO of the National Iranian Gas Company stressed the need for public cooperation and participation to overcome the energy imbalance. This imbalance, which has existed in the country for years, has intensified this year due to the war and attacks on energy infrastructure. The gap between the country's gas production and consumption had reached about 350 million cubic meters under normal conditions before the war, but with the attacks on the South Pars refineries, this figure has decreased to about 230 million cubic meters.
The Necessity of Optimizing Gas Consumption
The CEO of the National Iranian Gas Company reported that due to technical efforts, about 100 million cubic meters of gas production capacity has been restored. However, optimizing gas consumption has been proposed as one of the most important solutions to address this imbalance. He mentioned the existence of about 22 million low-efficiency heaters in the country and emphasized that optimizing these devices could free up a significant amount of gas.

The Role of the Public and Service Companies
The CEO of the National Iranian Gas Company also referred to the important role of the public in managing energy consumption. A mere one-degree reduction in the temperature of each household during peak consumption days can save the equivalent of 25 million cubic meters. In this regard, service companies can also earn income by investing in consumption optimization and play a significant role in reducing energy imbalance. So far, 109 contracts have been signed, and 70 contracts have been implemented in 29 provinces.
The challenge of Iran's gas deficit often relates to the management of production and consumption, and with public participation and proper strategies, the situation can be improved. Initiatives like the gas service plan, based on Clause P of Article 46 of the Seventh Development Plan, can be beneficial in improving consumption optimization and reducing energy imbalance. The importance of these actions should be transformed from temporary solutions into a permanent and ongoing program.
