Boskalis has signed a contract for the installation of inter-array cables in the first phase of the Zeevonk wind farm in the North Sea off the coast of the Netherlands, worth €50 to €150 million. This contract includes the transport of cables from the TKF factory in Eemshaven to the wind farm site and the installation operations at sea.
Contract Details and Project Timeline
The Boskalis vessel named Boka Ocean is responsible for transporting the cables and will also carry out their installation at sea. Additionally, the company is tasked with conducting surveys and seabed interventions and will use one of its underwater rock installation vessels for this work. Engineering phases will commence soon, with installation at sea planned for 2029.

Development Plans and Future Phases
The Zeevonk wind farm will be developed in two phases, located 63 to 84 kilometers off the Dutch coast. The first phase of this project, with a capacity of 1 gigawatt, is targeted to commence commercial operations in 2029. The second phase, with an additional capacity of 1 gigawatt, is planned for 2032 and includes 500 megawatts of system integration capacity, including an electrolyzer at the Port of Rotterdam. The final investment decision for the first phase, which still requires approval, is expected to be made by the end of this year.
This contract is considered one of the major packages of the Zeevonk project. In May, TKF was selected to design and supply approximately 162 kilometers of 66 kV inter-array cables, and in July, DEME took on the responsibility for transporting and installing 69 monopile foundations for the project. Additionally, EEW Special Pipe Constructions was selected last month to produce monopile foundations without transition pieces at its workshop in Rostock.
For Boskalis, this contract adds to its growing portfolio of cable installation projects. In February, the company and TKF approved another package worth €50 to €150 million to supply approximately 140 kilometers of inter-array cables for the Gennaker wind farm with a capacity of 976.5 megawatts in Germany, where Boka Ocean is set to begin installation work at the end of 2027.
