Aramco (Saudi Aramco) is collaborating with KBR, a U.S.-based company, for a project in the Marjan oil and gas field located in the Persian Gulf off the eastern coast of Saudi Arabia. This contract includes providing engineering services and project execution to upgrade key facilities in this field.

Details of the Marjan Project

KBR has been selected to assist Aramco in upgrading facilities in the Marjan project and will provide engineering and project execution services to facilitate oil and gas processing, gas compression, and energy infrastructure. This project will help maintain the production capacity of the Marjan field and also advance gas processing capabilities. Currently, the Marjan field has a crude oil production capacity of approximately 800,000 barrels per day.

Impact of Technology and Innovation

KBR has stated that this project aims to enhance the long-term performance of key offshore assets through the integration of digital technologies, automation, and improved energy systems. Jay Ibrahim, President of Sustainable Technology Solutions at KBR, has stated that this contract represents KBR's long-term relationship with Aramco and aims to help meet Aramco's expectations by leveraging deep expertise in marine engineering and digital innovations.

The engineering work for this project will primarily be conducted from KBR's offices in Houston and Al Khobar. KBR has decades of experience in executing offshore energy infrastructure projects in the Middle East and other regions of the world.

Future Outlook for the Marjan Field

The Marjan oil and gas field, under Aramco's operations, has been updated with several billion dollars in investments aimed at maintaining production capacity and improving gas processing. This project not only helps maintain production capacity but also significantly enhances gas processing capabilities. Given the increasing energy market demands, this project could have positive impacts on natural gas production and supply in the region.

KBR is also active in various sectors including liquefied natural gas (LNG), with one example being a contract for advanced engineering design for a planned LNG export facility on the Gulf Coast of Texas, United States. This demonstrates KBR's capability in managing complex energy projects.
