Advantage Tankers, based in Geneva, has recently added two LR2 tankers with a capacity of 114,000 DWT to its order. The company has also expanded its MR tanker construction program at the Guangzhou Shipyard International from four to six tankers.
Details of the New Order
Advantage Tankers' CEO, Tugru Tokgöz, has confirmed the order for two LR2 tankers at Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Corporation. Fleet Expansion and Construction Program
According to available information, Advantage Tankers has also ordered two MR2 tankers with a capacity of 49,900 DWT at GSI. With this addition, the company's construction program at CSSC has increased to six tankers. Delivery dates for these two new tankers have also been set for 2030.
Last September, Advantage Tankers announced that it had initially signed a contract for four MR tankers with an approximate capacity of 50,000 DWT at GSI. Although the contract price was not disclosed, a similar price for ships at this yard is estimated to be around $45 million per ship.
Long-Term Goals of Advantage Tankers
With the addition of six MR2 tankers and two LR2 tankers, Advantage Tankers continues to expand its construction program. The company aims to grow its fleet to 50 vessels by 2030. The new fleet will be built with dual-fuel LNG capabilities, reflecting the company's commitment to adopting modern and environmentally friendly technologies.
Advantage Tankers has been particularly active in the large tanker sector. Earlier this year, the company registered two VLCC tankers with a capacity of 307,000 DWT named Advantage Venture and Advantage Voyager at DSIC for delivery in 2028 and 2029. Additionally, the company has a significant order for Suezmax tankers in South Korea, which includes Advantage Spirit and Advantage Synergy with a capacity of 157,000 DWT at a price of $88.25 million each.
With this expansion, Advantage Tankers is rapidly developing and strengthening its position in the tanker market, particularly advancing in the large and medium sectors.
