On Monday, crude oil prices fell by more than 3% due to the ongoing negotiations between Iran and Qatar to reach an agreement aimed at ending the war between the United States and Israel. This price drop occurred as markets are heavily influenced by political and economic developments.

Details of the Oil Price Decrease

Brent crude oil reached $110 per barrel at 10:42 AM Iran time, down $3.43, equivalent to 3%. Additionally, West Texas Intermediate crude oil also fell by $3.50, or 3.4%, trading at $100.62 per barrel. This price drop followed reports of progress in the negotiations between Iran and Qatar.

Impacts on the Gold and Energy Markets

The decrease in oil prices, along with hopes for progress in diplomatic negotiations, has reduced inflation expectations and positively impacted the gold market. The price of gold rose on Monday following the drop in oil prices and a moderation of inflation concerns. The price of cash gold per ounce reached $3,903.90, up 0.8% by 11:27 AM Iran time.

Analysts believe that despite the price drop, the potential for oil prices to rise will be limited to around $120 per barrel. Suvro Sarkar, head of energy research at DBS Bank, emphasized that the potential increase in tensions and the reactions of the United States and Israel after the midterm elections have already been factored into the prices.

In this context, negotiations between Iranian and Qatari officials continue, with Abbas Araghchi, Iran's Foreign Minister, stating that the goal of these talks is to continue consultations with Qatari mediators. These negotiations are ongoing at a time when attacks on oil tankers passing through the Strait of Hormuz have increased global energy and maritime transport costs.
