China's oil product exports in August 2026 reached 6 million and 10 thousand tons, reflecting a 12.7% growth compared to the same period last year. This increase includes diesel, gasoline, jet fuel, and marine fuel.
Export Trends and Restrictions
China, one of the main oil product exporters in Asia, imposed restrictions on oil product exports such as diesel and gasoline in mid-March 2026 due to concerns about energy supply disruptions in the Middle East. However, since mid-July, Beijing has begun to ease these restrictions, and this trend is expected to continue in September.

Jet Fuel and Diesel Exports
China's jet fuel exports in August reached their highest volume of 2 million and 550 thousand tons, marking a 41.4% increase compared to last year. Additionally, diesel exports rose by 42.1% to 1 million and 330 thousand tons, the highest amount since March 2024. However, total diesel exports in the first eight months of the year reached 4 million and 840 thousand tons, indicating a 5.9% increase compared to last year.
LNG Imports and Global Market
Alongside exports, China's liquefied natural gas (LNG) imports in August decreased by 17.8% to 5 million and 160 thousand tons. This decline in the first eight months of the year reached 38 million and 860 thousand tons. Changes in China's export patterns could impact the supply and demand balance in global markets, particularly in Asia.
Overall, despite the growth in oil product exports in August, the eight-month statistics indicate that the country's total exports have decreased compared to last year. It is significant that changes in China's export policies could have substantial effects on global energy markets.
